Policies and Procedures

PROCEDURES

The library is open six (6) days a week for browsing, reading studying, faxing and computer use.  The computers will be shut down 15 minutes prior to the close.

Policies

Children:

The children’s floor is open! No appointments are necessary.  Please check in at the front desk to make sure we don’t have too many families on the floor at once.

STAYING SAFE

Masks are no longer required for general library use. Masks may be required for programs when not able to maintain a social distance.

Staff reserves the right to request a patron be masked when providing direct service without a barrier.

On the day of your visit, if you are feeling sick, have received a positive COVID-19 test, or have been in close proximity with anyone who’s had a positive COVID-19 diagnosis in the 10 days leading up to your appointment, we ask that you PLEASE STAY HOME and FEEL BETTER.

HOW CURBSIDE PICKUP WORKS

STEP 1:

Request your materials through our online catalog or call us at 845-528-3242. System-wide inter-library loan is available.

STEP 2:
We will call or email you with a confirmation notice when your items are ready to be picked up. You may call or email us at staff@putnamvalleylibrary.org to let us know which day you can pick up your item(s).

STEP 3:

Drive to the Library during any of our open hours (Mon-Sat). Park near the side door entrance and take the paper bag marked with your name on it. A receipt with the return due dates will be included with your items. Items that are not picked up are brought back in at day’s end and will be out again when we re-open.

RETURNING YOUR ITEMS

All returns must be placed in the outdoor book drop.
