OPEN HOURS PROCEDURE

To maintain our limited occupancy numbers, library visitors are asked to enter and exit through the side door entrance. Please ring the doorbell when you arrive and a staff member will greet you and let you into the building where you will be asked to sanitize your hands before entering.

Adult:

The Library is open for browsing and public computer access six (6) days a week.  Adult browsing is available for up to a half hour; computer access is for up to one hour per patron per day from Monday through Saturday.

Children:

The children’s room is available for one immediate family or caregiver group at a time by appointment only.  Appointments can be made through the BookWhen link on the HOME page of our website, or by calling the library.

STAYING SAFE

On the day of your visit, if you are feeling sick, have received a positive COVID-19 test, or have been in close proximity with anyone who’s had a positive COVID-19 diagnosis in the 14 days leading up to your appointment, we ask that you PLEASE STAY HOME and FEEL BETTER.

Acceptable face masks of two or more layers which fully cover the mouth and nose are required for all patrons and staff in the library, with the exception of children under the age of 2. Masks with exhalation valves that only protect the wearer are not allowed. Everyone is asked to maintain a distance of six feet apart and to observe physical distancing markers and signs whenever possible.  The library asks that while browsing if you touch a book, please leave that book on the nearest table so that it can be sanitized before we place it back on the shelves.

If you are unable or unwilling to wear a mask or to follow physical distancing guidelines, please contact the Library Director ahead of your visit to seek alternative accommodations.

Library staff will be cleaning high touch surfaces and computer stations will be sanitized regularly throughout the day.

HOW CURBSIDE PICKUP WORKS

STEP 1:

Request your materials through our online catalog or call us at 845-528-3242. System-wide inter-library loan is available.

STEP 2:
We will call or email you with a confirmation notice when your items are ready to be picked up. You may call or email us at staff@putnamvalleylibrary.org to let us know which day you can pick up your item(s).

STEP 3:

Drive to the Library during any of our open hours (Mon-Sat). Park near the side door entrance and take the paper bag marked with your name on it. A receipt with the return due dates will be included with your items. Items that are not picked up are brought back in at day’s end and will be out again when we re-open.

RETURNING YOUR ITEMS

All returns must be placed in the outdoor book drop and will be quarantined for 72 hours.

Please note: your returned items will remain on your library account record until they are out of quarantine.

All returned items will be back-dated to the date they were put in the book drop and no late fines will incur for items returned on time.
